Backley Fudge - Bay New Forest filly - May '07 - NFSB - NFM49/276 - SOLD to Debbie Ashby
Fudge is a New Forest filly purchased, via the Bealiau road sales, fresh off the forest in September '07. She is by Skywalker out of FernIII and was (forest) bred by Peter Butler. Fudge was incredibly nervous when she came to us, requiring several weeks of gentle handling. She is now out with all the other ponies and is the most humanised pony we have!!

Our first foal of the year! Evie has given us an absolutely stunning little bay colt! We have called him 'James'. Daddy Bert is very proud! James has a white stripe down the left side of his head and has the most amazing movements! He will be advertised for sale at 4 months old.
UPDATE- James is now changing colour. His foal coat is coming out and he is now going a dark bay/black colour like his mum! He is also only a few inches off her already!
Heidi joined us with Tara and Thalia
9/08/09...........Sadly, she developed multi organ failure due to
multiple tumours and had to be put to sleep........She was such a
character, we will really miss her....RIP little Heidi 11/12/2010 xx
Spot On - 12.2hh appaloosa gelding - Sold
Merlin had been with us for 2 years, rescued from the horse sales, we just fell in love with him!
He is a real character with lots to like, a real confidence giver for novice and more advanced children alike.
Charlotte took him out a few times, he enjoys jumping (capable of jumping 2' 6") and had his first go at working hunter, jumping a lovely clear round! He also competed in his first dressage test coming a very credible 2nd in the junior prelim class!
16/05/08 - Merlin has been to the vets and had a growth removed from his sheath....it turned out to be a sarcoid, thankfully he doesn't have them anywhere else, so hopefully we have it contained.....this is the first time i've come across sarcoids but having read up on them I discover they're not uncommon. The one's I have researched were enormous and quite scary looking....thankfully Merlin's was very small and hardly noticable! I am assured it won't affect his performance in any way, and bless him, although he was obviously sedated for the procedure, he took it all in his stride.......what a good boy!
Sadly, Charlotte out grew him and he has now gone to a super home........good luck with him Africa and have lots of fun!!!!!!
Premier Boy (Jake) - 3/5/1998 - Irish Thoroghbred Registered Wetherby's - Sold
He has been with us since February and is slowing being brought back into work and condition. We have registered him with RoR. Charlotte was hoping to work with him this year, but due to a change in circumstances this can no longer happen, so sadly we are now offering him for sale as we are overstocked and he is too good to just sit in the field!!
Felicity (Fliss) - Bay native cross mare - RIP 16/12/2007 - aged 30+
Fliss was owned by our friend Jo and came to us to retire.
She had a history of chest problems and at her previous livery home, she was stabled most of the time. As a result, her breathing was getting worse, so Jo decided to try her with us at grass livery.......SHE LOVED IT!!!
She came to us in April 2004 and settled really well, making friends with Bertie in particular, they were inseperable! Within 2 months, she had transformed, now able to gallop about and hardly ever out of breath, Jo couldn't believe it!
For the next 2 years, she was able to quietly hack out and even popped a log or two in the woods.
The last 18 months or so she spent at her leisure in the field, munching to her hearts content and taking the new foals under her wing. She passed away in her sleep, in the field with all her friends around her ....... what a lovely way to go!
Lakehead Minstrel ex Cutt Mill Courgette Bred by Mrs Monro Black 38.5”, born 1982 Stallion no: 3482
Cracker left us on Saturday 14th July 2007 and headed for the great mountain & moorland in the sky.
He spent his last seven years with us on loan, he was owned by Julia at the Coppice Shetland stud in Warwickshire. A breed champion and truly black black, he produced some quality poniee including Coppice Dandy Jack, who stands at Coppice Shetland stud together with several quality, well boned mares with good bodies and feisty temperaments.
During his time with us he sired 2 beautiful fillies with Sierra, Rosie & Midnight (see below :-< )
Nice Busines (Bertie) - Bay irish thoroughbred - RIP 29/01/2007
I purchased Bertie in July 1988 as a 6 year old.
He was an irish thoroughbred, bred by in Co.Cork, Ireland
He was raced on the flat as a 2 and 3 year old, winning or being placed nearly every time out. As a 4 year old he progressed to hurdles, was raced twice and placed both times. He then retired from racing.........we believe he had a leg injury as after I bought him our vet said that his legs had been fired. We don't know what happened to him then, but the sister of a friend of mine spotted him in a livery yard, thin and uncared for - her father bought him for her, but once he was turned out onto spring grass and he started to feel better, she realised he was too much for her, so I bought him off her.
We had great fun! Bert loved to run, and excelled at endurance competitions..........gaining many grade 1's, local and national awards, including 2nd high point thoroughbred in the country! Sadly his endurance career was cut short at the age of 10 when he fell over in the field and fractured his pelvis! We thought we would lose him, but thanks to our fabulous vets and water treadmill therapy he recovered, and although he didn't compete again he continued to enjoy an active life, taking on the role of 'happy hacker'.
Bertie was my best friend, and broke my heart when he died at the age of 25. He was 1 in a million and can never be replaced.
His name lives on in our new born colt from Amber who was born 5 months after Bert died.
